I started my fitness journey in March 2011. I have always been ok with my weight and size but really wanted to work on my fitness as running was always a struggle and I could never seem to stick with exercising on a regular basis.I started exercising on my own at a size 12-14 weighing 85-90 kilos. Because I am 5'11" I always hid my size really well no one ever thought of me as overweight. After about 4 moths I had lost about 10 kilos by going to a gym 4-5 times a week and attending the SMD bootcamp every Saturday morning as well as changing my eating portion sizes.I had started all this on my own but was never really confident that I was lifting the right weights or doing the correct exercises for my body type. In August 2011 I met with Sean and decided to give personal training a try and see if I could maximise the results I was hoping for. I knew if I had come this far already I was determined I could get myself to a healthy and fit shape. I trained twice a week with Sean and attended the Saturday morning bootcamps. Within weeks I felt like my results were stronger and better than ever. Throughout that time I decided to compete in the Ralph Swimsuit Model of the year in December 2011. To my surprise I won a spot in the National Final. I know I never would have come as far as I have or had the confidence to achieve what I have since starting with Sean. He has shown me dedication and encouraged me to push my limits through training, model competitions and fitness challenges. Sean knows just how much you can handle and when you feel like giving up he is there to keep pushing you to go harder. It has now been 1 1/2 years with SMD and I have managed to stay a steady weight after dropping approx 25 kilos and am now a size 8-10. It takes dedication from yourself and having a trainer to become the better version of yourself that you always hope to be. I highly recommend Sean and personal training to anyone, at any age, size or fitness level he can take you to the goals you have always thought are out of your reach!

In 2011 i came to Sean lacking in motivation to keep fit - I had trained sporadically - however did not keep it up regularly. I had cultivated a paunch that was not evident 4 years ago and my levi's did not fit well anymore!! Sean has tailored my training around my sporting interests and specific goals which include overseas surfing trips and reducing my golf handicap. He has focussed on strength and conditioning with some flexibility work thrown in for good measure. Overall i am much stronger and am in pretty good physical shape - especially for a guy of 57 - the levi's now fit fine again! I recently had my annual check-up with my doctor and my blood tests including blood pressure were the best they have been in 15 years. I would recommend SMD Health & Fitness for anyone wanting to loose weight, increase fitness and generally improve their health.

I approached Sean back in september 2012 as i hadn't been getting the motivation i needed. Although i had been training, i wasn't seeing results. Sean asked me what it was that i wanted to achieve with my fitness. I had a pretty clear picture of what i was looking for and Sean was confident he would get results for me. I have always, always struggled with my weight, even as a small child. I’ve tried all the commercial weight loss companies and even diet pills, with initial results but no long term ones. I have never been one for exercising – I knew I shouldn’t eat fast food etc, but could never get in the right mind set to do something about it. I first met Sean through a friend who had had success with weight loss and decided it was now or never! Since training with Sean, my whole attitude towards exercise and myself has changed. I have accomplished things I never thought possible. Don’t get me wrong, it was hard at first, but now I actually look forward to our 2 training sessions every week and feel something is missing if I don’t do some form of exercise whether it be a training session with Sean or even a walk or 2. I have noticed a huge change in my attitude, health and endurance – first session I thought I was going to die, but only a couple of weeks ago I did Merewether stairs 7 times – something I would never have even thought of 6 months ago. I have lost over 15kgs and centimetres have disappeared and I feel awesome! During our training sessions, Sean is always supportive and encouraging, always knowing how far to push and never has me doing anything he doesn’t feel I’m capable of. I was looking for a personal trainer for my 13 year old son and a friend referred me to Sean. The first thing I liked was that he contacted me straight away and organised a time to meet with me and Tom to see how he could help.
 
Tom didn't need to lose weight but to keep fit during his off season for soccer and enhance his running skills and strength. On meeting with Sean he developed a plan and was interested to hear what Tom's goals were. As we were only looking to fill the 'gap' for the off season, Tom met with Sean weekly, which he looked forward to regardless of the fact that he knew how hard Sean was going to work him. Sean also gave him an exercise plan to continue during the week until his next visit.
 
He also gave us an outline of foods that we should look at to try and boost Tom's weight. The weekly visits allowed Tom to not only maintain his fitness, but to work on those additional areas. Sean helped correct Tom's running style, strengthen his core and to add some muscle to his upper body without having to do any weight training. This is all crucial to Tom's continued fitness and his ability to play at the top level of his sport.
 
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sean to anyone that was interested in finding an enthusiastic, motivated and well informed personal trainer!

Having lost a lot of weight through diet over the period of a year I needed that push to keep going and focus on getting fit and learning to treat my body with respect.

I found Sean just lazing around the gym one morning looking for his “Rocky Balboa” unfortunately he got me and from that first training session he knew he had a lot of work to do to get me into shape.

With my determination and his “keep going” “four more to go” attitude I lost another 6kg in about 10 weeks and I was only seeing him about three times a month.

He set out workouts for me to do when I was on my own at the gym and gave me meal options. I lead a pretty hectic life and found all of his tips and training techniques easy to follow and watched my body go from flabby to pretty dam good.

After having had four babies and not stepping foot inside a gym in over twelve years, I recognised the need to make some changes in my life. I not only needed to change my body shape and lose weight, but I also needed to introduce a healthy, balanced lifestyle and be a positive role model to my young daughters.

I also have a fairly stressful working life and I discovered that physical exercise had markedly reduced the physical symptoms of stress that I had begun to experience. It was through this change that I met Sean of SMD Health and Fitness. Whilst I was terrified and initially felt that every session was an exercise in inadequacy (largely due to my unco-ordination) I have come to really love and look forward to our sessions. After I joined up, a friend also decided to make some life changes and so we now do buddy sessions a week in addition to attending the gym for our freestyle workouts as many times a week as we can. I find the sessions naturally exhausting, but fun and satisfying. In the four months that I have been associated with SMD I have experienced weight loss, body shape changes and a general feeling of overall happiness. The first step was difficult, but the rewards have been and will continue to be worth any momentary pain.

SMD Health and Fitness has allowed me to achieve things which I didn’t think were attainable. Originally a sceptic of personal training, I now champion it to anyone who will listen. To begin with, Sean sat down with me and we discussed long and short term goals which gave me direction and purpose. After a few sessions, Sean developed a program specific to my personal goals and abilities. After only 6 short weeks I saw massive changes. I felt more toned and after a quick jog along my usual jogging track I realised I have halved my running time without even fully exerting myself! Determination has always been my biggest issue. Since I was a teenager I have tried numerous diets and exercise programs to no avail, finding that I would give up after a few weeks. 4 months ago I started training with Sean and am still going strong. His program and diet have helped me get motivated, realize my goals and have the determination to stick with it. 

Training isn't easy but Sean always keeps it interesting with different exercises and as much as I never thought I would, I love it. Sean has helped me focus on taking control and pushing my limits just a little more each session and helps make exercise a positive experience and not a chore. Training twice a week has become a routine for me and I look forward to going and having the encouragement I need to make the most of my workout and to just enjoy it.

With the diet and the training together I have noticed a huge difference in my body and have a much healthier outlook. Although the diet is strict, it is easy to stick with after you notice results in weeks.
